What's this about?

"A love of classical music is only partially a natural response to hearing the works performed, it also must come about by a decision to listen carefully, to pay close attention" -- Charles Rose

I've been listening to classical music for many years. Lots and lots of classical music (but not that many years!)
I'd like to put down in writing some of my impressions on different recordings of pieces I know and love, in the hope that they will help others discover nuances of interpretation, jewels of sound, and maybe even choose a recording above others more intelligently.

As used here, "classical music" means anything from Medieval to Contemporary music periods, not just the Classical period itself.

Also, I don't claim any more music intelligence than anybody else and therefore welcome your comments on my posts. Ideally, this blog will eventually become a conversation.

If you have recordings you'd like featured here, please let me know. I'll do my best.
